چکیده

AIMS Accurate placement of the acetabular component during total hip arthroplasty (THA) is an important factor in the success of the procedure. However, the reported accuracy varies greatly and is dependent upon whether free hand or navigated techniques are used. The aim of this study was to assess the accuracy of an instrument system that incorporates 3D printed, patient-specific guides designed to optimise the placement of the acetabular component. PATIENTS AND METHODS A total of 100 consecutive patients were prospectively enrolled and the accuracy of placement of the acetabular component was measured using post-operative CT scans. PATIENTS AND METHODS A total of 100 consecutive patients were prospectively enrolled and the accuracy of placement of the acetabular component was measured using post-operative CT scans. CONCLUSION Accurate placement of the acetabular component can be achieved using patient-specific guides and is superior to free hand techniques and comparable to navigated and robotic techniques. Comparison of Clinical, Functional, and Radiological Outcomes of Total Knee Arthroplasty Using Conventional and Patient-Specific Instrumentation

Background: Recently, patient-specific instrumentation (PSI) systems have been developed in order to increase theaccuracy of component positioning during total knee arthroplasty (TKA); however, the findings of previous studies arecontroversial in this regard. In the current randomized clinical study, the outcomes of computer tomography (CT)-basedPS (patient specific)-guided TK...

Hip Arthroplasty and its Revision in a Child: Case Report and Literature Review

Juvenile idiopathic arthritis is the leading cause of hip replacement in young children. However, arthroplasty in this population is challenging with several concerns about quality of the growing bone, young age for revision surgery, and difficulties in potential several revisions. In this study we introduce a case of a 12-year old who is one of the youngest patients to undergo revision hip art...

Accuracy of Image-based Computer Assisted Surgery in Acetabular Cup Placement for Supine Two-incision Total Hip Arthroplasty

Introduction: Supine patient positioning in conjunction with twoincision minimally invasive surgery (MIS-2 incision) total hip arthroplasty (THA) increases difficulty of accurate and repeatable cup orientation in accordance with pre-operative planning. Investigators have suggested advantages of utilizing computer assisted orthopaedic surgery (CAOS) to successfully eliminate extreme outlying ace...

Does Robotic-Assisted Computer Navigation Affect Acetabular Cup Positioning in Total Hip Arthroplasty in the Obese Patient? A Comparison Study.

Obese populations present challenges for acetabular cup placement during total hip arthroplasty (THA). This study examines the accuracy of acetabular cup inclination and version in the obese patient with robotic-assisted computer navigation. A total of 105 patients underwent robotic-assisted computer navigation THA with a posterior approach. Groups were divided on body mass index (BMI, kg/m(2))...

Acetabular component positioning in total hip arthroplasty: an evidence-based analysis.

Advocates for navigated (NAV) total hip arthroplasty (THA) emphasize the potential for improved component placement. We reviewed published literature to investigate the claim of increased precision of acetabular component placement in navigated THA compared to conventional (N-NAV) THA. Major medical and publishers' databases were searched, making no restrictions for study type, yet restricting ...
